The Coturnix Quail, also known as the Japanese Quail, is one of the most popular domestic quail breeds, widely kept for its excellent egg production, rapid growth, and easy management. Originating from Asia, Coturnix Quail have become a staple choice for poultry keepers due to their practicality, hardiness, and suitability for small spaces.

Coturnix Quail chicks are tiny, active, and fast-developing birds that require careful early rearing but quickly become robust and independent. They are well suited to keepers who want to raise birds from a young age and enjoy watching their development through to maturity. As they grow, they develop attractive natural feather patterns and begin to show the compact, rounded shape typical of the breed.

Our Coturnix Quail chicks are carefully raised to ensure strong health, good feather development, and excellent vitality. They are an ideal option for anyone looking to establish a productive covey or expand an existing flock with young, well-started birds.

Coturnix hens mature quickly and go on to become reliable layers of small, speckled eggs, often beginning to lay within just a few weeks of maturity under the right conditions. Their efficient growth rate and low space requirements make them one of the most practical poultry species for small-scale egg production.

At Ridgeway Poultry we specialise in carefully selected, high-quality poultry, with a focus on producing healthy, well-socialised birds across a variety of breeds. Each chick is raised with care to ensure it has the best possible start and develops into a strong, thriving adult bird.

Chicks require warm, secure brooding conditions with consistent access to appropriate chick crumb feed and fresh clean water. As they grow, they should be gradually transitioned into secure housing with adequate space, ventilation, and protection from predators and weather.
