The Coturnix Quail, also known as the Japanese Quail, is one of the most popular and widely kept domestic quail breeds in the world. Highly valued for their quick maturity, reliable egg production, and manageable size, Coturnix Quail are an excellent choice for both hobby keepers and small-scale productive setups.

Coturnix Quail are compact ground-dwelling birds with rounded bodies, soft feathering, and a calm but active temperament. They are hardy, adaptable birds that thrive in aviaries and dedicated quail housing, making them particularly suitable for keepers with limited space. Their fast growth rate and ease of care have made them one of the most practical and rewarding poultry species to hatch and rear.

Our Coturnix Quail hatching eggs are produced from carefully selected breeding stock chosen for health, vigour, temperament, and productivity. Fertility can vary depending on handling and incubation conditions, but every effort is made to supply fresh, high-quality eggs suitable for incubation.

Once hatched and mature, Coturnix hens typically become excellent layers of small cream-coloured eggs covered in distinctive dark speckles. They mature quickly compared to most poultry species, often reaching laying age within a matter of weeks under suitable conditions. Their productive qualities and compact size make them ideal for both beginners and experienced breeders.

At Ridgeway Poultry we specialise in carefully selected, high-quality poultry and hatching eggs, with a strong focus on healthy stock and reliable breeding lines. All hatching eggs are collected regularly and handled carefully to help ensure the best possible incubation results.

Hatching eggs should be stored correctly before incubation and set using suitable incubation equipment with carefully monitored temperature and humidity levels. Due to factors outside our control during postage and incubation, hatch rates cannot be guaranteed, but we always aim to provide the highest quality fertile eggs possible.
